Nordic Restaurant – Icelandic Cuisine – with a modern twist!
Since our restaurant opened it’s doors in 2003 we’ve focused on using only the best local produce of the season. Our food is fresh and tasty, prepared with great respect for the raw material. We seek influence from french, danish and Italian cuisine – and of course traditional Icelandic fine cooking. The fish comes in each day from local fishermen, our vegetables from Vallanes ecological farm when available, the lamb from the East-Icelandic plateau. Our menus are small, and change frequently since yesterdays fish just isn’t good enough.

Norð Austur Sushi & bar
In the summer of 2015 we opened our sushi restaurant & bar named after our beloved, unloving wind direction: North East. At Norð Austur we serve only the freshest fish caught by local fishermen in the rivers and sea nearby.With respect for our raw material and Japanese traditions, we serve modern sushi along side tasty beverages.Trip advisor say this about Hótel Aldan:

Charming Hotel in an artful village on a fjord in the East” stayed October 2015.
“We used this great place as our staging ground for a couple of nights in the East Fjords.Traveling in early October their restaurant wasn’t open other than for an exceptional breakfast every morning which was included in the cost of the very comfy room. The restaurant is in a separate building from the rooms which made for a nice little walk in the morning. Lunches we packed for our daytime hikes from the local supermarket right near by, and dinner was accommodated in a wonderful local pub which served great pizzas and a special entree every night. It was also in Seydisfjordur that we saw the most spectacular display of the northern lights on our entire trip. We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Aldan and the town tremendously, though I understand in the summer it can be quite busy with ferry traffic from Denmark mid-week.”
