Eight days / seven nights .

Enjoy awe-inspiring scenery, from the expansive space of the highlands to the magnificent snow-covered mountains plunging into the fjord.

Relax in soothing hot springs; dine on local cuisine and get a true sense of the life with local Icelanders and their stories. And in the depth of the night, keep an eye out for the magnificent winter light show of the Aurora Borealis.

Itinerary for our eight day tour.
Day one
18:00 Depart for your Winter Wonderland Tour to Egilsstaðir/Seyðisfjörður
19:00 Arrive at Egilsstadir airport and travel with your guide over the breathtaking mountain road to Seyðisfjörður.
20:00 Arrive in the picturesque town of Seyðisfjörður and check in to your beautiful hotel and settle in.
21:00 Enjoy an evening out to dinner with your tour group and experience the taste of fish caught fresh from this fjord. The tour leader will introduce you to the week ahead, provide a program overview, answer questions and discuss practical matters concerning your stay.
22:00 If the Aurora Borealis forecast is right, enjoy a spectacular evening on the Soul of Seyðisfjörður and Aurora Borealis tour where you will enjoy this natural phenomena with a local guide and be taken to the ideal location for viewing. This tour may also take place the following day, dependent on the aurora forecast.

Day two
8:00 Breakfast is served. Fuel up to prepare for the day ahead
10:00 Meet your local guide for an introduction to Seyðisfjörður. You will get to know the heritage of this small and remarkable village which has played an important role in Iceland’s history, learn first-hand stories and discover what it is like to live here. Lunch will be provided.
14:00 Free time: You will have the opportunity to explore this beautiful place in a truly magnificent natural setting. Head out and enjoy the various galleries, craft shops and cafes the town has to offer or take part in an optional activity such as learning a handcraft in a workshop, or relaxing at spa or taking a hike. Your tour leader will help you find an activity to suit.
19:00 Enjoy a beautiful meal and reflect on your first day.
21:00 Enjoy a free evening otherwise a second change for the Soul of Seyðisfjörður & Aurora borealis Tour will take place here.

Day three
8:00 Enjoy breakfast and prepare for the incredible day ahead
10:00 First stop will take you to a two hour workshop course at the Technical Museum of East Iceland where you will be introduced to aspects of the development of modern times and technology in East Iceland through printed media. You will receive a unique insight and hands on experience with the Museum’s printing equipment and their collection of printing clichés from different periods over the last century as well as the opportunity to print and bind your own small collection of postcards and a memory book to take with you as a handmade, local souvenir from Seydisfjördur; one of the first towns in Iceland with its own newspaper print press and more recently an important center for arts and culture.
12:00 Lunch at Hótel Aldan and prepare for the upcoming hike.
14:00 Hiking tour & snow shoes walk – Vestdalur Valley – Nature Reserve. This guided hike and a short walk with snow shoes, will take you off the beaten track where you will experience beautiful frozen waterfalls, magnificent rock formations, Ice Age glacier landforms and visit the spectacular elf city. You may even glimpse the fresh tracks of an arctic fox in the snow. This tour transports you to a far-flung corner of the earth of uniquely untouched nature. Experience remote Iceland and recharge your heart and soul in peace and quiet amongst natural beauty.
17:00 Arrive back to your hotel and enjoy some free time.
19:00 Dinner is served and with it a flare for local cuisine, fine wine and great company
21:00 Enjoy a free evening otherwise the third change for the Soul of Seyðisfjörður & Aurora borealis Tour will take place here.

Day four
8:00 Meet for breakfast and hear about the day’s plans over coffee
10:00 It’s time for the Snow and Ice tour. Experiencing the snow and ice in the mountains is both breath-taking and educational.   Enjoy the ride high up into the mountains in a super-jeep. Have fun building cozy snow holes, learn about snow avalnches and how to assess them and experience the snowy landscape. Then try your hand at cross-country skiing or sledding.
15:00 Return to the hotel in Seydisfjordur and enjoy a free afternoon. Warm up with a steaming cup of hot chocolate at Skaftfell Bistro or take a final walk around the picturesque town.
19:00 It’s the final dinner in Seydisfjordur and it will be one to remember. Enjoy your evening out together, relfect on the week been and celebrate – you’re only half way.
Egilsstaðir

Day five
8:00 Enjoy a cosy breakfast in Seydisfjordur.
11:00 Check out of the hotel and make the most of your final two hours before your departure. You might have time to take a few last pictures
12:00 One last meal in town and you will be ready to head off.
13:00 Depart for Egilsstaðir and wave goodbye to Seydisfjordur as you are transported up the winding mountain road and catch one last glimpse of the town at the top.
14:00 Arrive at your stunning new hotel overlooking the water in Egilsstaðir and settle in.
15:00 Learn about Egilsstadir from our local guide on this informative and interesting tour of the town.
19:00 Enjoy a delicious meal from local ingredients at this high-quality restaurant.
20:00 It is free time this evening. If the skies are clear, this could be the night the sky puts on a show for you, or the perfect time for a cosy night in.

Day six
8:00 Breakfast is served and time to prepare for the day ahead
9:00 The tour around Lagarfljót lake starts off with a stop at Hallormsstaður forest, the largest forest in Iceland. There you’ll take a ride on an ATV and then a drive to the  Wilderness centre where we’ll have lunch. After lunch we’ll enjoy the Wilderness exhibition. Then we’ll drive to Skriðuklaustur the gorgeous historic house with a stop at Snæfellsstofa, the visitor centre for Vatnajökull national park.
16:00 Arrive back to the hotel and relax for the afternoon, it’s free time. You could enjoy the stunning spa of the Gistihúsið Lake Hotel, Egilsstaðir and soak up the view.
19:00 Gather for another beautiful meal together with your group.
21:00 Hear myths and tales from a local storyteller and keep an eye out for the Northern lights, you never know when they might appear.

Day seven
8:00 Breakfast
9:00 Prepare yourselves for the adventure tour into the highlands. You will be awed by the magnificence of the landscape on this super jeep tour. Enjoy a trip to Sænautasel turf house and visit Skessugarðar – The rampart of the giantess with a guided tour.
16:00 Return to the hotel then make the most of your final free afternoon in Egilsstadir.
19:00 Gather for the final dinner together and last night in Egilsstaðir. Share your experiences and highlights of the past week and perhaps a picture or two.
